Clinic Services

Dr Khalil is sub-specialized in the following fields, and offers the necessary investigations and management in some of the best centers and eye hospitals in Cairo, Egypt.

For correction of myopia (short sightedness), hyperopia (long sightedness), and astigmatism. LASIK is usually very useful in -2 to -12 degrees of myopia and is almost a necessity when one eye is high myopic (short sighted), while the other is not, where regular glasses can not be used. LASIK is also very useful in treating hyperopia (long-sightedness) of up to 6 degrees. Dr Khalil is giving lectures and instruction courses on sight correcting modalities, like LASIK, phakic lens implants (ICL) in many national and international congresses. When you decide to come for a visit, he will perform all the necessary examinations and investigations, using state of the art technology, then discuss with you to find the most suitable method for you.

Glaucoma is a serious sight threatening disease. Dr Khalil Doctoral thesis in Japan was on glaucoma. Since then, he has a very wide range of publications on the subject, including glaucoma book sections in international reference Ophthalmology books, teaching surgical atlases, explaining his surgical technique. As he is  pioneering a successful surgical technique for the management of the difficult glaucoma in the newborn and infants, he has many cases referred to him from all over Egypt and abroad. He was an active member in the Glaucoma Unit in Kyushu University for almost 5 years, and is currently responsible for managing the Glaucoma Unit in Cairo RIO.

The techniques and technology of cataract surgery have made great leaps in recent years. Small incision PHACO surgery and foldable (soft) lens implantation, using no sutures is currently the best recognised procedure for the management of cataract. In the past few years, Dr Khalil started offering his patients the option of using the new multifocal intraocular lenses like the ReSTOR and the Rezoom lenses. These multifocal lenses help overcome the reading and near distance difficulty after cataract surgery. This is done in some of the best centers in Cairo, and patients get out of the hospital in the same day.

Keratoconus Treatment

Management of the conical cornea or keratoconus has made some revolutionary leaps in the past few years, mainly by the introduction of corneal cross linking (CCL, X-linking), new surgical modalities like intra-corneal rings (intacs, kera-rings), and deep lamellar keratoplasty or corneal grafting. Dr Khalil has participated in several meetings during the development era of these techniques, before their introduction in the practical  field, and has incorporated all these new tehniques into his practice together with well established techniques for keratoconus management like hard contact lens fitting.

A wide range of Contact Lens services is provided. From the latest on soft lens technology to fitting coloured lenses, lenses for astigmatism and keratoconus

Laser Treatment for the Retina

Laser is sometimes essential for the treatment of eye complications in diabetic patients, and some other problems of the retina (the sensitive film in the back of the eys)
